A Fair Trial, An Impartial Judge

All I ask is for a fair trial;
An impartial judge;
An admittance of evidence.

I wish to tell my side;
To expound on mitigating factors;
To reduce the disdain you’ll show.

I’ve made my mistakes;
I am, in the end, a man;
Fallen, fallible, failing.

If there be consequences,
Let them be ones I’ve earned;
Heap no undue scorn on my head.
